The Louisiana Digital Library invites you register for our first-ever LDL Fest!
What?
A three-day event to celebrate our state's digital cultural heritage.
Day 1: Workshops
- We will hold hands-on workshops on topics including text analysis, named entity recognition (NER), and digital mapping. Participants are invited to attend morning and/or afternoon workshop sessions.
Day 2: Talks and Showcases
- A full day to hear from users of the LDL, this day will open with a keynote talk by Pam Fessler, former NPR correspondent and author of Carville's Cure: Leprosy, Stigma, and the Fight for Justice (2020). The day will close with a keynote talk by Jessica Marie Johnson, Associate Professor in the Department of History at the Johns Hopkins University, author of Wicked Flesh: Black Women, Intimacy, and Freedom in the Atlantic World (2020), and Director of Life x Code: DH Against Enclosure. In between, we'll here from local researchers who have used the LDL in their own work.
Day 3: LDL Practitioners Dream Big
- This day is set aside for LDL practitioners, those of us who select, upload and describe content. Together, let's take this opportunity to think deeply the LDL, the LDL community, and how we can grow the our state-wide digital resource to reflect our state.
