Mr. John Maison Rouge, who mounts sugar kettles, informs Louisiana sugar planters that he has a new method of fixing (mounting) them which is less expensive, takes less space, and is more durable than before. More information is available from Mr. Stacoctr, Richardson's Hotel, Conti Street.

Sale of the plantation and sugar refinery belonging to Chief Justice E.D. White, of the United States Supreme Court, to Ernest M. Loeb, president of the Haubtman and Loeb, Co., Ltd., in Lafourche Parish announced in 1918. The price had not yet been announced.

Text, June 13, 1902. Cane Loaders. Two to be Tested by Sugar Planters. One invented by a negro -- Meeting of Planters Association Last Night. Report of the Louisiana Sugar Planters' Association at the Chamber of Commerce in New Orleans Louisiana. A communication was read by Secretary Benjamin D. Woodward. A paper entitled "A plant for fuel oil bagasse burners" was read by a Mr. Stewart. The working of a sugar cane loader, invented by an African American, T.J. Howard, was explained by Fred Grace of Plaquemine, Louisiana. Another newly invented cane gathering and loading machine was described by J.O. Wright. Published in the Daily States.

Abstract
Text, circa 1930s. History and description of Ducros Plantation in Terrebonne Parish. The families include the Ducros, Butler, Winder, Grundy, Woods, Pugh and Polmer families. The home was completed in 1859 and is of Colonial type architecture. The architect, Evens, was from Thibodaux Louisiana and the home was built with slave labor. It is influenced by Andrew Jackson's home near Nashville, Tennessee. A complete description of the interior and exterior materials and architecture is included as well.

Abstract
Text, date unknown, circa 1930s. Penick & Ford, Ltd., Syrups & Molasses Plant. Description of Penick and Ford Company's New Orleans branch. This company makes the "Brer Rabbit" brand of syrups and molasses. This branch does not make the syrups and molasses, it purchases the sugar cane juice from local sugar houses then mix it, blend it, and boil it down at the plant to the proper consistency. The plant has it's own power house and cold storage tanks and takes up over 25 acres on the West bank of the Mississippi River. It employs near 160 men and women. A short history of sugarcane in Louisiana along with its production is discussed as well. The last pages discuss the uses and qualities of molasses and syrups in America's kitchens.

Abstract
Text, date unknown. Les Grandes Plantations de la Louisiane. (Copied from an article in "Nouvelle Revue de Paris," Parish paper.) The grand plantations of Louisiana as translated from a French paper. The author based the article on descriptions from the book "My Journal, North to South" of the 1860s by William Howard Russell, an English journalist. The two plantations described are the plantations of Mr. Roman, former Governor of Louisiana and Burnside Plantation. Article probably translated from the French by the WPA in the 1930s.
