Abstract: B&W photo, circa 1940. Construction of the Huey P. Long Memorial statue. The man in the photo is possibly sculptor Charles Keck. Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Written on photo: Designed by Charles Keck and built at a cost of $50,000, the 35 ft. memorial faces the Louisiana State Capitol. Scenes carved on the base depict Long planning public works and extending the scope of public education. A rearing horse carries a pennant which reads "Share the wealth." The monument was unveiled March 21, 1940, nearly five years after Long's death.

Abstract: Text, date unknown, circa 1930s. History and description of the Firemen's Monument in Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans, Louisiana. The New Orleans fire department was wholly volunteer until 1887, when this monument was erected. Charles A. Orleans designed the monument, the statue of the firemen is marble and was designed by Alexander Doyle and executed in Italy by Nicoli.

The statue commemorates Margaret Gaffney Haughery a wealthy and successful widow in New Orleans who left her savings to the orphanages of that city. The statue was dedicated in July of 1884, the ceremony is described. The statue was designed by Alexander Doyle, is of Carrara marble and was executed in Italy.

Abstract: Text, July 8, 1884. Margaret's Statue. Received and Elevated to its Pedestal on Monday Morning - The Dedication Ceremonies on Wednesday. The statue of Margaret and the Orphan is delivered to and unveiled in New Orleans, Louisiana. In July of 1884 Charles A. Orleans, agent of the Hallowell Granite Company, the contractors of the Italian marble group Margaret and the Orphan, delivered the statue to New Orleans via steamship. The statue was carved by Alexander Doyle and brought to New Orleans from Carrara, Italy via New York City. Published in the Daily Picayune.

Abstract: Text, circa 1930s. Dreux Monument. History and description of the Dreux Monument in New Orleans, Louisiana. The monument was erected in the memory of Charles Didier "Charley" Dreux, organizer of the Orleans Cadets Company at the beginning of the Civil War and was the first officer from New Orleans to volunteer. Dreux was also the first Confederate officer from Louisiana killed in the war. He was killed in a battle at Newport News, Virginia on July 5, 1861. Unveiling exercises for the monument were held in 1922. Victor Holm of St. Louis designed the bust and Albert Weiblen, the pedestal.
