Abstract
Petition of the estate of Widow Dara (or Darrea) Costanza to free the enslaved persons Carmelite (described as a negro wench of more than 30 years of age), her son William (described as the son of Carmelite, above 13 years of age), and Lucien (described as a young mulatto orphan boy of about 11 years of age). The petition is made by the executor of Costanza's estate, a free man of color named Pierre Fildeé.

Abstract
Text, October 28, 1845. The will of the late Alexander Milne in 1845. Milne was a native of Fochabers, Scotland and lived to be 94 years old. He leaves money to friends and relatives in London, Scotland. Property and many thousands of dollars are left to his former slaves. Milne bequeaths his homes in New Orleans and Lafayette to become asylums for the relief of destitute orphans. As issued by the New Orleans notary public Carlisle Pollock. Abstract
Text, April 29th, 1936. Hope Haven Plantation. Description of Hope Haven Industrial Training Society in Gretna Louisiana. Primarily a home for dependent and orphan boys, but also an educational plant where boys receive industrial training "that will make them self-supporting men and good citizens." Printing, book-binding, wood-working, farming and dairying are taught. The staff are trained social workers of the Associated Catholic Charities. Also discussed is the Madonna Manor, an asylum for girls, and boys under 12, headed by the sisters of Notre Dame. The institutions were founded by the Reverend Father M.H. Wynhoven in 1927.

Report from Jackson Mississippi documenting a carload of children passed down through the Illinois Central Railroad en route to Opelousas Louisiana where they will be given away. The children range from 2 to 6 years old and are under the charge of Mr. G.W. Swayne, agent for the Orphans Home of New York City, two nurses and two nuns. Text, circa 1930s. Margaret Statue at Camp and Prytania Streets. History and description of the Margaret Statue in New Orleans, Louisiana. The statue commemorates Margaret Gaffney Haughery a wealthy and successful widow in New Orleans who left her savings to the orphanages of that city. The statue was dedicated in July of 1884, the ceremony is described. The statue was designed by Alexander Doyle, is of Carrara marble and was executed in Italy.

Abstract
Text, July 8, 1884. Margaret's Statue. Received and Elevated to its Pedestal on Monday Morning - The Dedication Ceremonies on Wednesday. The statue of Margaret and the Orphan is delivered to and unveiled in New Orleans, Louisiana. In July of 1884 Charles A. Orleans, agent of the Hallowell Granite Company, the contractors of the Italian marble group Margaret and the Orphan, delivered the statue to New Orleans via steamship. The statue was carved by Alexander Doyle and brought to New Orleans from Carrara, Italy via New York City. Published in the Daily Picayune.
