Abstract
Evaluation and general census of land in Pointe Coupée Parish for the purpose of determining territorial and slave taxes. The census lists the name of the landholder; number of men, women, and children in the family; number who can bear arms, men over 50, size of land holdings, value of the land; number of enslaved persons divided between men, women, and children; and number of free persons of color. Lafayette is listed as owning 10,000 arpents. Another major land holder is Julian Poydras, who held plantations and owned 270 enslaved persons. In French.
