Abstract
Letter from Talcott and Bowers, factors of New Orleans, to Messrs. Brown and Ives, of Providence, Rhode Island, commenting on the war situation in New England, Pensacola, Fla., Mobile, Ala. and New Orleans, La. The letter mentions British troops landing in Pensacola; Jackson [i. e. Andrew Jackson] making peace with the Creeks in Mobile; a growing militia force and a force from Kentucky; and the storage of the businessmen's cotton.

Political cartoon by William Charles depicting John Bull being dragged by his ears by two men, a "Kaintuck" and a Frenchman. The Kaintuck refers to Andrew Jackson by his nickname, "Old Hickory," and Jackson's victory over the British in the Battle of New Orleans on Jan. 8, 1815 in the War of 1812.

Abstract
Half-length reverse glass portrait of Andrew Jackson in uniform. Jackson's surname is spelled "Jaqson" in ink below the image. The portrait is bordered in white and framed in wood. The image is possibly based on an 1860 engraved printed portrait by Henry B. Hall (see accession 1959.160.14) that was in turn based on an 1819-20 original painting by John Vanderlyn.
