Abstract
Report by Chev de Benac to Superior Council that an orphan named Antonie, the son of deceased Andre Creps, whom he kept in his house through charity, went on a hunt and is missing since three days. That a slave named Francois, owned by Mr. Caue, saw a corpse, whom he thinks is the said Antoine, from his straw hat and by his dog stretched near the body. de Benac asks that an inquest be held and that justice be done, act being passed of said report. Petition of the Procureur General for further efforts to discover the assassin of Antoine Crespe. (See WPA abstract)

Abstract
Text, November 12, 1870. An Old Pioneer's Story, 1816. Description of murder and subsequent trial in Monroe, Louisiana of Ouachita Parish. A Mr. Stephen Maddox married a Patsy Donivan after living for four years with a Miss Baker. The new Mrs. Maddox was found murdered in the year 1807 at the house of Miss Baker. Miss Baker was put on trail and eventually found not guilty. An African American servant forty years later confessed to the crime on this deathbed to the judge of the trial.

Abstract
Text, June 19, 1874. Description of lynching in Franklin, Louisiana, entitled "Two Young Men Hung by Maskers." The two young men lynched were A.B. and T.L. Norris, and Henry Lewis were suspected as killing a man named Arbuckle in Bayou Macon. The two Norriss' were arrested, Lewis escaped. The men were jailed with guards, but a mob arrived outside the prison and hung the two brothers on the same limb. The bodies were later taken down and buried.

From the website of the Dorcheat Historical Association & Museum, Inc. at http://museuminminden.blogspot.com : On Christmas Day, 1916, John Nelson Reeves, his wife, Maud, and three of their four children were axed to death as they lay peacefully sleeping in their rural Webster Parish home. The gruesome slayings of the Grove, LA family members, and the next four years of trials and appeals of the accused killers, is the subject of a true-crime novel penned by Minden resident Marilyn Miller and published in October of 2000 by Sweet Dreams Publishing Company of Many (LA).
