Abstract
The first volume of Anonymous Daybooks contains the accounts of a free man of color, Oscar Dubreuil, for purchases made at a general merchandise store in Isle Brevelle, Natchitoches Parish, La. (possibly Dupré, Metoyer & Company) for the years 1856 and 1857. Included are Dubreil’s accounts with free families of color, including the Balthazars, Monettes, Metoyers, Melancons, Meullions, LeCourts, and Badins/Badons. Loose items in the book include a 1931 letter from Emma Dupré to her brother, Wilson Dupré, an advertisement for Kentucky Colonel Plug Cut Tobacco, and fragments of accounts. In French.

Abstract
The folder is comprised of tax receipts for Adeleda Metoyer and invoices and receipts to Adeleda and Toussaint Metoyer for cotton, books, whiskey, sugar, coffee, and various other goods. These accounts include the following merchants: Jean Conant, Anthony J. da Silva, A. L. Metoyer, P. E. Durant. Also included are receipts to Adeleda Metoyer from Reub White for railroad freight, a 1937 invoice to Selén Metoyer, and an April 23, 1854 receipt belonging to Pantaleone Morine.

Text, May 10, 1873. ""Trenton in Ashes." Loss of $306,950!" Description of a fire in the town of Trenton, Louisiana. The fire started in the town's drug store. Much of the town was comprised of dry wooden building due to the lack of rain at this time. Most of the town was burned to the ground. The prices of the lost and insurance rates are included at the end of the descriptive article. The list is divided by property owner.

A woman and girl in a wagon being led by a man and pulled by cattle. The man with the beard is Amogene Fontenot (born 1887). The woman in the wagon is Bertha LaFleur Fontenot (Amogene's wife, born 1888). The girl in the wagon is their oldest child, Helen Fontenot LeBlanc (born 1907). The baby is Mayuse Fontenot (6 weeks old). The woman standing on the ground is Amelia Fontenot (Amogene's sister). Photographer's mark painted on image, "Bevan Bros. Eunice La."
