The ledger contains records of merchandise, cash, bills payable, bills receivable, expenses, and individual accounts for an unknown business in Natchez, Mississippi from January 1837 to April 1839. The first unnumbered page of the book, signed by S. L. Goddard and Thomas Besson[?], contains a note, dated April 10, 1839, assigning use of the book to C. Cason[?].

The original pagination of the book has been retained, though some pages appear to be missing from the ledger.

Abstract
In 1806, Will and testament of Maria Olivares, widow of Joseph Galvez of New Orleans. She declared that she was born in the Canary Islands, the legitimate daughter of Andres Hernandez and Josefa Olivares. She was a resident of Barataria, where she owned land and some sixty head of cattle. Her properties included two enslaved persons, a Bautista (a male of 55 years of age) and Maria (a female of 35 years of age), and the latter was to be freed after the death of Mrs. Galvez. She appointed as the executors and universal heirs of her estate Maria Dauberville, widow Bouligny, and Luis Bouligny. In Spanish.
