Abstract
Dispute between Edward Brooks and John P. Sanderson, syndics of the creditors of John Crawford, and A. Miller over the sum of $154.50. Summons and fieri facias for A. Miller were written by Thomas S. Kennedy. Noted on verso of fieri facias that it was settled between the partied and returned Dec. 12, 1807.

Abstract
File contains petition, judgement and covenant. Petition asked for approval of a "condordat" made among the creditors of I.G. Tomatis and notarized by Stephen de Quinones. Jean Nicholas le Boucher and Jacob Hart, the syndics of the creditors, acted as the petitioners. The covenant was agreed upon by Etienne Dubon, Clark & Rogers, John Poultney, William Walraven, Le Boucher and Hart. It lists the debts of Tomatis including a shipment of wood from Philadelphia, Pa. to New Orleans, La. petition and covenant written by L.A. Dupuy. On April 18, 1807, Judge L. Moreau Lislet confirmed the covenant and ordered it recorded in the clerk of court's office.

Abstract
File contains petition, affidavits, order for seizure, answer and attachment. Petition, written by B. Caune, sought payment of $231 from the lawyer Claude Francois Buhour D'Argy to Jaques Vincent, a surgeon. Affidavit of Vincent sworn before B. Cenas, justice of the peace. D'Argy's answer claimed that Vincent was indebted to him for three promissory notes, which were "nearly balancing" the debt D'Argy owed Vincent. D'Argy's affidavit sworn before L.B. Gireaudeau, justice of the peace. Order for seuzure written by Thomas S. Kennedy. On Oct. 12, 1805, Judge James Workman ordered the seizure stopped.

Abstract
Dispute over the sum of $2,283 for legal services performed by R.R. Keene for Patrick Morgan in several cases. File contains petition, attachment, petition copy, petition of appeal, copies of the petition of appeal, copy of the appeal bond, copy of the judgement and various fragments. Keene's petition contains an itemized list of cases and amounts due for each. Attachment written by Thomas S. Kennedy. Copies of documents written by Kennedy. Page14 contains Judge James Workman's order allowing the appeal and issuing a security for $100 from Keene. Appeal filed June 23, 1806.

Abstract
Notarized documents including land sales, slave bills of sale, court records, affidavits, estate and succession inventories, and statements of debt that were certified in 1830 by Charles Derance, notary public of Natchitoches Parish. A land sale conveys the property of Leman Chaler to Jean Baptiste Metoyer. A court proceeding and a statement of debts concern the seizure of property belonging to Athanase Lassize by Nicola Gracia. This seizure occurred because Athanase, a free man of color, had fled Natchitoches Parish without repaying his debts to Gracia. Over half of the documents are in French.

Abstract
Materials consist primarily of financial papers relating to Miles Terrell's debt and business transactions. Documents include promissory notes, accounts, drafts for payments, and invoices. A court summons dated January 27, 1875 requires Miles Terrell to appear in court to answer a plaintiff's demand for payment for nursing services. Papers include a receipt showing payment of this debt, dated May 28, 1875. Terrell family genealogy notes, dated 1875, record the births of Miles Terrell's sons, Gloucester and Marion. A note written by Violet Terrell on October 1, 1875 instructs William Deare to pay Miles Terrell for board and use of a horse. A note written by James Hicks on November 14, 1875 asks Grean Richey to pay Miles Terrell.

Other items include an invoice for drugs (dated 1876), an order for sewing supplies and fabric (dated 1877), and a shipping document for the sale and shipment of cotton (dated 1877).

Materials are financial in nature and contain receipts and accounts with I. Levy and Company for clothing, food, household items, and farm supplies. Included is an invoice to Andy Fulton dated December 8, 1859, which shows charges for the sale and transport of two bales of cotton; an account for Jesse Clifton, dated December 27, 1860, that lists food items and tobacco products; a petition submitted by Isaac Levy and Company to the 13th District Court of Rapides Parish on October 15, 1860; and a summons issued by the Clerk of Court of Rapides Parish on October 20, 1860 concerning Miles Terrell’s debt owed to the firm.

Abstract
Material consists mostly of invoices, promissory notes and receipts relating to purchases and small loans made by Miles Terrell, including the purchase of a heifer from James Hicks, dated September 9, 1871. In a letter to Miles Terrell, dated October 14, 1871, James Hicks requests that he give a bale of cotton to Milton Gorum. Violet Terrell receipt shows payment for a patent she received in Vernon Parish on May 31, 1872. Of note is a August 30, 1872 legal summons issued to Miles Terrell to appear before the justice of the peace to answer a plaintiff's demand for payment.

Abstract
A copy of a court proceeding concerning the disposal of debts that Ferdinand Percy owed to various persons, including Barthelemy Campanel, a free man of color. Having surrendered all of his property to his creditors, the court and his creditors granted that the remainder of Percy's debts would be cancelled.

Abstract
Chiefly financial papers that include accounts, invoices, and receipts documenting the sale of cotton, household goods, food, tobacco, farm equipment, whiskey, and quinine. Receipts also document payments on debt. Promissory notes relate to loans and payment for cotton. In a May 4, 1874 letter to M. Miars, Cornelius, Bryans orders fabric, sewing supplies and shoes to be delivered by way of Miles Terrell. Receipts, a promissory note, and a letter fragment document Miles Terrell's business transactions with A. J. Marshall. The letter fragment (October 6, 1873) written by Marshall concerns Terrell's debt to him and the seizure of Terrell's property. Also represented is Miles Terrell's voter registration certificate, dated September 14, 1874.
