Abstract
Text, November 12, 1870. An Old Pioneer's Story, 1816. Description of murder and subsequent trial in Monroe, Louisiana of Ouachita Parish. A Mr. Stephen Maddox married a Patsy Donivan after living for four years with a Miss Baker. The new Mrs. Maddox was found murdered in the year 1807 at the house of Miss Baker. Miss Baker was put on trail and eventually found not guilty. An African American servant forty years later confessed to the crime on this deathbed to the judge of the trial.

Abstract
B/W photo, July 15, 1936. Hospital for white patients, built by the WPA, the G.B. Cooley Tuberculosis Sanatorium at White's Ferry, 3 1/2 miles from Monroe, Louisiana. Faces southeast, has frontage of 130 feet. Central structure is two stories with one story wings on each side. Total floor area about 7000 sq. ft. Brick and frame construction; asbestos composition roofs, plastered walls and celotex ceilings. Eleven bedrooms in each wing; one for men, one for women. Work began November 4, 1935. About 85 men employed. Total cost of $76, 302.53.
