Caption by Maude Reid: "Broad Street looking west from the corner of Ford Street. The William Ramsay home on the left (in 1905 occupied by Mrs. Mathilda Miller); Dr. Anderson's home just beyond. Across the street - the cottage with the dormer windows - is the old Lem Dees home and beyond that is the home of Newton North, and beyond this the old home of Judge Stephen D. Reed. The house at the extreme right - across from the Ramsay home - belonged to Leon Viterbo. This house burned down some years ago."

Abstract
The photograph shows Dr. Henry Lewis Bailey with his wife and two men. The man shown to the right of the family is probably William R. Johnson, who was a descendent of William T. Johnson.

The group portrait shows Dr. Henry Lewis Bailey and his wife elegantly dressed and seated. A young man, who is likely a relative of the Bailey family, stands behind the couple. William R. Johnson, who lived with the family in Washington D.C. during his studies at Howard University Medical College, is shown dressed in a suit and bow tie leaning against a pedestal.

The photograph was probably created in Washington D.C. between 1900 and 1910.

Caption by Maude Reid: "The old house pictured above was destroyed in the hurricane of August, 1917. Originally on the north side of Railroad avenue, in the block between Reid and Kirkman streets; it was being used as a polling station in a city election held on June 8, 1908, to determine whether Lake Charles should go 'dry' or not. The 'drys' won out. The lady with the large hat is Mrs. Elisha Clements. Dr. Clements is to the left. The little girl in front is their dauther, Jesse Mae, now Mrs. Warner - instructor at Central School."

Abstract
Legal and financial papers of the Johnson family for the years 1900-1935 include tax receipts, teachers' licenses, receipts for property sales, notices, orders to pay, checks, and receipts for goods.

Documents created between 1900 and 1921 belonged to Anna Johnson, a schoolteacher who managed her family's estate. These items include: tax receipts; a teachers' license (dated April 14, 1900); a receipt for attorney's fees for her sister, Katherine Johnson's, last will and testament (dated July 1, 1901); receipts and statements concerning transfer of property; checks from Anna to family members and various businesses; and a contract for Peachland Plantation (dated December 13, 1921).

The remaining documents were created between the years 1923 and 1935 and predominantly relate to Anna Johnson's nephew, Dr. William R. Johnson. These items mostly document the settlement of Anna Johnson's estate following her death in 1922 and William's subsequent management of Peachland Plantation.

Items belonging to Anna's sister, Alice Johnson, her brother, Clarence Johnson, and Emma Hoggatt are also represented.
