Abstract
In this indenture, William Byndles (described as a free person of color) is sponsored by his mother to contract as a servant to Dr. Daniel.

Indentures in which at least one party was a free person of color were selected from among all of the indentures available. This identification was made either by the designation of an individual as a free person of color in the record or when a phenotypical description like "quadroon," "mulatto," or "Negro" was given and there was no information to indicate the person was enslaved.
