Abstract
What is beautiful? Can beauty be defined? Is there a standard by which one may compare and/or contrast beauty in order to declare what mayor may not be seen as beautiful? If a sure fire definition of beauty does exist, what type of characteristics does this beauty possess? Does this beauty have deep brown almond shaped eyes and a wide pug nose? Does she have plump full lips and wide curvaceous hips? Is her backside round and are her thighs thick? Is her hair tightly coiled, short, and wavy? According to the millions of images advertisements use to symbolize the epitome of beauty daily, these are not the features that represent great American beauty. Page after page, commercial after commercial, and pop up after pop up we see advertisements that contain images which are not that of Black beauty, Black women, African American beauty, African American women.

Abstract
The unpublished manuscript "The Negro in Louisiana" is a work begun by the Dillard (University) Project in 1942, an arm of the WPA's Federal Writer's Project. After the dissolution of the unit, Marcus Christian maintained and edited the document in hopes of eventual publication. It is reproduced here as an annotated transcript, with original typos, chapters, and paginations preserved.

Abstract
Investing is one of the most often mentioned topics of conversation in the United States today. Whether it pertains to Clinton economics (investing in America's future) or personal investing, it is an important topic and can determine our financial future. Radio and television report the "Dow Jones Industrial Average" everyday as if it were as significant as the weather. Yet how many people really know what the Dow Jones Index is? Even if they did, would it make any significant difference to them if the Dow Jones went up or down on a given day? Perhaps. In discussing the topic of this paper with individuals, I learned how concerned people are to have a straightforward, simple plan for investing their money without the fear of losing a bundle or getting "hoodwinked" out of their life's savings. Most people just don't know where to begin. Constant electronic and print bombardment by stock brokers and investment companies try to lure investors into their fold. But who is it better to trust money with than the person who earns it? This paper is designed to educate and enable beginning investors to make good, safe investment decisions so that they can enjoy the fruits of their labor without paying a stranger to make those decisions for them. If one can open a simple checking account, that person has what it takes to direct money into investment tools that will pay him and not some broker or salesperson.

Abstract
This essay will primarily examine deconstruction, qua Jacques Derrida, as a philosophical movement. In order to do this it is helpful to examine where deconstruction fits in the Western philosophical tradition. It would be possible to devote the entire essay to an exposition of the thought of the important thinkers who led to deconstruction. However, there are problems with this approach. First, the essay would be lacking in originality and would not add any insight which the reader could not arrive at himself. Second, Derrida distances himself from the thought of others because he believes it is impossible to say things such as, "This is what Kant thought. ... "However, as deconstruction is a form of skepticism, part of my examination will make comparisons to other forms of skepticism, most notably Pyrrhonism and New Academy Skepticism. Another aspect of deconstruction to be explored is its attempt to expose the problems of metaphysics. For this concern, a comparison between postmodernism and the pragmatism of C.S. Peirce will be explored.

Abstract
In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the social sciences concerning the many facets of marital disruption. Much of this literature analyzes the differential adjustment of men and women during the process of marital separation. Researchers frequently examine sex-role orientation in relation to the social and emotional consequences that ensue from dissolution of the marital relationship. Others investigate the distinctive adjustment to marital separation as a function of such factors as education, parental status, satisfaction, and age. All researchers, however, agree that males and females are different in their ability to adjust to marital disruption and dissolution.
