Abstract
Text, June 26, 1909. A tract of marsh land in or near Abbeville, Louisiana was sold. It has a history; a man named "Price" Choate claimed that the pirate Jean Lafitte had buried a treasure there. Choate is now in state prison, but his attorney is trying to get a pardon for him. The land was recently purchased by a prominent citizen of Abbeville, Louisiana as an investment.

Caption by Maude Reid: "Part of a privately owned ranch of 170,000 acres of marshland in Cameron Parish (belonging to Lutcher Stark). Across the foreground runs one of the 18-foot canals which thread this scientifically operated fur farm. These afford the trapper easy access to the extensive territory which he must work and also provide a means of controlling the level of water in the marshes."
