B&W photo, 1968. Historic Marker denoting history of Mandeville, Louisiana. Written on marker: "Mandeville. Named for Pierre Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville, land owner during the late seventeen hundreds. Near this site Bienville met, in 1699, Acolapissas who reported that, two days before, their village had been attacked by two Englishmen and 200 Chickasaws. English were rivalling the French for this area."

B&W photo, 1970s. Pilottown, La. Plaquemines Parish. Written on photo: Pilottown, a conglomeration of rough one-story buildings on the east bank of the Mississippi River, was once hadquarters of the Crescent River Port Pilots Association. At one time, the river-boat pilots and their families lived here. Today, Pilottown is the temporary home of many hunters and fisherman. Pilots remain here only when on duty.
