B&W photo, 1970s. Huey Long Statue. On new Louisiana State Capitol grounds. Baton Rouge, La. Written on photo: "Louisiana's 34-story capitol- - tallest in the nation - - rises majestically on the bank of the Old Man Mississippi River at Baton Rouge. Completed in 1932, the building was constructed during the governorship of Huey P. Long, perhaps Louisiana's most flamboyant and controversial of a long list of flamboyant and controversial politicians. Ironically, the by-then U.S. Senator was assassinated, less than three years after it was finished, in a corridor of the capitol he had built. Long's grave, marked by a bronze statue of him, is in the formal gardens facing the skyscraper capitol."

The Louisiana Digital Library (LDL) is the front door to Louisiana's digital cultural heritage. Members include public libraries, academic libraries, museums, and archives from arcross the state.

Currently, there are 25 participating institutions in the LDL. Each institution contributes the digital items and the descriptive text for their collections.
