Title: G. H. Suydam Photograph Album
Commercial photographs of twelve Baton Rouge buildings (e.g., the Louisiana State Capitol and the Deaf, Dumb and Blind Asylum) and street scenes and eight photographs of Admiral David G. Farragut's fleet on the Mississippi River. Memoranda handwritten on the reverse side of the photographs identify the Federal camp, headquarters of the generals, the provost marshall's office, and the general hospital; scenes at the grounds of the Baton Rouge Arsenal; and gunboats (e.g., the "Essex") and other vessels of Farragut's fleet.
