Dr. Gilbert C, Anderson, 62,
pioneer of neurosurgery in New Orleans, died at 8:15 a., m. Sunday at his home, 5521 Atlanta.
A native of Jackson, Tenn., Dr. Anderson received his medical education at Columbia university, New York, having been graduated from that institution in 1917.
He entered the United States Army as a captain in the medical corps and served until he entered the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn., in 1923 to study neurosurgery.
Dr. Anderson remained at the clinic until 1927 when he moved to New Orleans to begin a private
practice in the specialized field He also became a professor of neurosurgery at the Tulane university medical school and served there until 1930.
--Taught at LSU--In that year he transferred his teaching activities to Louisiana State university medical school and served there until his death.
The author of numerous articles on neurosurgery, Dr. Anderson served as president of the Louisiana State Medical Society in 1947. He was also president of the Orleans Parish Medical Society in 1940-41.
