Additional facilities necessary at Louisiana State university to meet increased enrollment after the war were cited here Thursday by W. B. Hatcher, president, who re-vealed a war-accrued surplus of $3,373,000.
President Hatcher addressed the members council of the Association of Commerce at a luncheon at The Roosevelt.
He said the surplus, accumulat-ed through war restrictions of building, reduced faculty and federal aid in connection with the military training program, has been allocated for postwar building, as follows: A 1000 capacity men's dormitory, $1,000,000; college of education building, $750,000; home economics nutrition plant, $300,000; food preservation building, $80,-000; normal replacements, $750,-000 to $1,000,000.
--Additional Needs--Further needs are for an additional women's dormitory, increased facilities for the medical school, in New Orleans, new chemical and engineering buildings, an enlarged library building, women's gym, and fireproof build- ing for records, according to Pres-ident Hatcher. He did not indicate the cost of such projects or a method'of financing them but said surplus reyenue will not continue to accumulate.
"Facilities and room at the medical school in New Orleans are inadequate," he said.
