A New Orleanian was one of five persons killed when a medium army bomber from MacDill Field, Fla,, crashed Saturday into Tampa Bay about four miles offshore, the public relations office of the field announced Sunday.
He is Captain Samuel Albert Barkoff, 27-year-old United States Army Medical Corps wing surgeon, whose parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hyman Barkoff, reside at 3019 Milan street. No additional details of the accident were revealed by the MacDill Field authorities.
Captain Barkoff, a graduate of the Louisiana State university medical school in 1937, interned at Charity hospital for two years. He entered the army in 1941. Besides his parents he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ferdinand Bodenger of New Orleans.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home of Tharp-Sontheimer-Tharp, Inc., 4127 South Claiborne avenue, at a time to be announced.
