In line with a national defense speedup, seniors of the Louisiana State university medical school will attend classes this summer and receive degrees in February instead of in next June, Dr. B. I. Burns, dean, announced Thursday.
He said that the 84 seniors already had been instructed to report for classes on June 16 and emphasized that the work to be given this summer will not be repeated during the fall.
Summer classes in all medical schools were urged by the executive committee of the Association of American Medical colleges, so as to provide more doctors at an earlier date in preparation for a national emergency, Dr. Burns said.
