Charity hospital Tuesday was expected to issue a report designed to clear away all confusion about "unanswered" ambulance calls and explain why; ambulances were not always accompanied by a physician.
The report was being prepared by Charles Pique, head of the hospital's traffic department.
Less than 12 hours before this announcement was made a former Army major died at Veterans hospital after Charity j allegedly failed to send an ambulance to the scene of an accident.
NO EMERGENCY CARE And when the victim was! taken to Charity by police, he| was not given emergency treatment, but was transferred to Veterans.
The man, identified as Carl Thompson, 48, of Fort Lauder-dale, Fla., had suffered a skull fracture at at>out 1 a.m. in a Paris ave. bar. Pique said he had no comment to make about the incident. A full report on the hospital's ambulance service was being prepared, he added, and would be given to Charity's director on Tuesday for release to the press.
