The New Orleans Heart Council, local unit of the Louisiana Heart Association, re-elected James S. Flower as its chairman. He was named at the annual election meeting, held at International House.
Millard White was named vice-chairman of the council, with Mrs. J. C. Tackaberry as secretary. New treasurer will be Jerome B. Glynn.
Flower named three members to key committee posts. They are Dr. Sam Threefoot, speakers bureau; Dr. Robert C. Kelleher, Heart Fund planning and advisory; and Mrs. William Maylie, memorial gifts.
Dr. Homer J. Dupuy, immediate j past president of the Louisiana1 Heart Association, presented citations from Dr. A. Carlton Ern-stene, president of the American Heart Association, to two officials of the local 1960 Heart Fund.
Recipients of the certificates of appreciation for outstanding Heart Fund leadership were Lynn C. Woods, city Heart Fund chairman, and C. C. Clifton Jr., vice-chairman.
Plans were made during the meeting for a campaign to promote memorial gifts to the Heart Association after Mrs. Maylie reported that during the past 10 months memorial gifts totaling $11,661 had been made in Orleans parish.
This represents an average gift; of slightly over $8, Mrs. Maylie | said. Memorial gifts, she added,; are growing in number of amount, j
and by the end of the fiscal year on June 30, the amount contributed through the memorial program will reach a record sum.
