Medical school students who took part in the summer research program of the Louisiana Heart Association will gather Thursday evening to discuss their projects.
A record number of 27 students each received $600 fellowships to enable them to spend their summer assisting in heart and basic research investigations now going on at local medical schools and hospitals.
The students were selected from those applying from the j schools of medicine of Louisiana; State university and Tulane uni-j versity.
Dr. John K. Hampton Jr., Louisiana heart committee ■ chairman and associate profes-jsor of physiology at Tulane uni-jversity school of medicine, said sthe aim of the program is to |broaden the experiences of the I medical student by including work in actual research projects.
He said the students will meet at 7 p. m. Thursday at Kolb's restaurant. Also attending the meeting will be Dr. Homer J. Dupuy of New Orleans, president of the Louisiana Heart Association, an affiliate of the American Heart Association.
