As a high light of Mental Health Week to be observed throughout Louisiana, beginning Sunday, a Mental Health Assembly will be held Thursday, May 1, at 1528 Jackson ave.
Sessions of the assembly will be conducted in the new headquarters of the Louisiana Association [or Mental Health, which is sponsoring the'event.
As a forerunner to the assembly a special pre-assembly lecture is scheduled for Tuesday April 29, at 8 p. m. the lecture will be delivered by Dr. T. A. Watters, local psychiatrist, who will have as his topic, "Wht Family Doctors Are Doing in Psychiatry."
The Assembly proper will get under way May 1 at 10:30 a. m. wit an address by Winborn E. Davis, director of training, Louisiana State department of hospitals. He will have as his topic, 'Mental Health Training Programs in Louisiana."
The next speaker will be Dr. Fillmore H. Sanford, associate director for scientific studies, Joint Commission on Mental Illness and Health. His theme will be ' 'Mental Health for the New America."
Dr. W. W. Frye, president of the state association will preside. At 8 p. m., a play entitled, "Return to Thine Own House" will be presented. The cast will include members of the drama classes of Baton Rouge High school, with Mrs. Paul C. Young as director. The play will depict the problems a mental patient encounters when he returns to the community after a period in a mental hospital.
