Public health service grants of $3,038,418 are being made to 88 medical schools and research institutions for heart research.
Tulane university is given four grants. One is for $17,500 so that Nathaniel Kurnick can continue studies of kidney functions in connection with heart failure. A contribution of $16,450 is made to the George E. Burch work on tropical influences on the heart and blood vessels. Studies of red blood cell preservation being conducted by Otto Schales is to receive $13,500. Another project being conducted by Adrian F. Reed and Homer D, Kirgis is to receive $6000.
The study of arterial lesions by Russel R. Holman at Louisiana State university was awarded $3618.
Circulation studies being conducted by Arthur C. Guyton at the Universtiy of Mississippi have been allotted a grant of $10,724,
