Description
Lorena Dureau was a singer, writer, and psychic. She graduated (as Lorraine Dureau Newsham) from Loyola in 1955. After winning the Metropolitan Opera regional auditions, Dureau broke a rib in church and was unable to sing until it was fully healed. By then the Metropolitan Opera season had ended. She subsequently moved to Mexico, where the opera season lasts year-round, in 1957, to pursue a singing career at the suggestion of Loyola College of Music Dean Miguel Bernal. She later went by the name Lorraine Dureau Lehleitner. This scrapbook documents her performances and travels in New Orleans and Mexico. 77 pages.
