Auguste Augustin Metoyer (born 1800) was a merchant, planter, community leader, landowner, Creole, and free man of color of the Cane River settlement of Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. His parents were Nicholas Augustin Metoyer and Marie Agnes Poissot, both free people of color. Auguste’s father, Nicholas Augustin (1768-1856), was one of ten children born to Marie Thérèze Coincoin (1742-1816?), a former enslaved person, slave-owner, and property owner, and Claude Thomas Pierre Metoyer (1744-1815), a French-born, white plantation owner and businessman. Marie Thérèze Coincoin and her son Nicholas Augustin Metoyer are credited with founding the Cane River community. Auguste Metoyer married his first cousin, Marie Thérèse Carmelite Anty, daughter of Dr. Joseph Conant and Marie Suzanne Metoyer (1768-1838), Nicolas Augustin's twin sister.</br></br>Jean Baptiste Louis Metoyer (1800-1838) was a free man of color and propertied slave owner born to Louis Metoyer (1770?-1832), a former enslaved person, and Marie Thérèze LeComte, a woman of full or partial Native American ancestry and a former enslaved person of the LeCourt household.</br></br>Marie Suzanne Metoyer (also known as ""Marie Suzette"") was born around 1806 to Nicolas Augustin Metoyer (1768-1856) and Marie Agnes Poissot, both free people of color. In 1820, she married Élisé Roques, a free man of color native to New Orleans. Her sister, Marie Pompose, was married to Élisé's brother, Charles Nerestan Roques, a free man of color. In 1831, Marie Suzette married Louis Morin, a landowner of New Orleans. She died in 1872.</br></br>Joseph Augustin Metoyer (born 1807-8) was a free man of color and Creole and the younger brother of Auguste Metoyer. On January 21, 1830, he married a free woman of color (described as a quadroon) named Marie Antoinée Coindet (daughter of Marie Rose Metoyer).</br></br>Jean Baptiste Leandre Metoyer (born 1816) was the son of Jean Baptiste Augustin Metoyer and Suzette Anty. In 1836, he married Seraphine Elina Christophe (born 1817).</br></br>Marie Rose Metoyer was a free woman of color born in 1792 to Louis Metoyer (1770-1832), a former enslaved person, and Marie Thérèze Lecomte, of full or partial Indian blood who was born an enslaved person into the LeCourt family. She married Jean Baptiste Balthazar-Monet with whom she had two children: Louis (1807-1853) and Rose.
