Biographical Information
Antoine Alphonse Meullion (active 1849-1867) was a free man of color and property owner, married to his cousin, Marie Meuillon, a free woman of color. His parents were Antoine Donot (also known as ""Antoine Donato"" and ""Donat,""(1801-1890) and Elizabeth Donato (died 1850), both free people of color.

Description
Business and personal papers of Antoine Alphonse Meullion, a free man of color. Included is a receipt for publishing a notice in the Sentinal about a property in Saint Landry Parish that he purchased from James G. Hayes on July 7, 1866. The notice is attached to the receipt. Also present is a letter from Bellocq, Noblon & Company (a merchant firm of New Orleans) informing Antoine Alphonse of an increase in the amount of cotton sold. A letter from Antoine Pin, a free man of color from Saint Landry Parish, updates Alphonse about his life at old age. Documents are in French except for receipt and notice.
