Biographical Information
Joseph Bogy (Baugy, Bougie; born about 1749) was an early French-Canadian settler of the Three Forks area of Oklahoma. He traded furs along the Arkansas River to New Orleans and St. Louis. In 1788, he married Marie Plasy (or Duplasy) at Kaskaskia, in present day Illinois. Their son Joseph was educated in New Orleans, married Marie Bauvais, and fathered Senator Lewis Vital Bogy of Missouri.</br></br>Gilbert Leonard (1766-1816) also known as “Don Gilberto” was treasurer under the Spanish governor of the Province of Louisiana and was a resident of New Orleans. His parents were John Leonard and Helena O’Brien of Ireland. He married Adelaide Eutroppe De Reggio in 1790. He died in Louisiana in 1816.</br></br>Felix Herwig Kuntz (1890-1971) was the son of Rosemonde Elizabeth and Emile Kuntz and the brother of Emile N. Kuntz. He was an avid collector of documents, paintings and furniture during and after the Great Depression. The documents in this collection were items that Kuntz collected for his own personal interest.

Certificate issued by Gilberto Leonard (also known as “Gilbert), comptroller general of the Province of Louisiana, to Joseph Bogy. He certified that his office owed Joseph Bogy 228 reales in silver (28 Pesos 4 reales) for services rendered. Bogy had transported Juan (described as a free mulatto) and sixty Choctaw Indians from the north side of Lake Pontchartrain to the bridge at the Bayou Saint John and had supplied 4 1/2 barrels of corn to them.
