Biographical Information
Robert (flourished 1787) was a free man of color (described as a free mulatto) who lived in New Orleans.</br></br>Esteban Rodríguez Miro y Sabater (1744-1795) was the interim governor of Louisiana from 1781-1785 and then governor by decree from 1785-1791. Born in Catalonia around 1744, he was the son of Francisco Miró and Marian de Miró y Sabater. He married Céleste Eléonore Elisabeth Macarty, daughter of Bartolomé de Macarty and Francisca de Beleire y Pellerin of New Orleans, December 21, 1779. Their daughter was Mathilde Ana Francisca (born 1780).</br></br>Felix Herwig Kuntz (1890-1971) was the son of Rosemonde Elizabeth and Emile Kuntz and the brother of Emile N. Kuntz. He was an avid collector of documents, paintings and furniture during and after the Great Depression. The documents in this collection were items that Kuntz collected for his own personal interest.

Order to pay issued by Governor [Estevan] Miró of Louisiana in favor of Robert, who is described as a free mulatto of New Orleans. Governor Miró ordered City Alderman Francisco María de Reggio to pay Robert the sum of six pesos from the city's fund allocated for the pursuit of runaway slaves (cimarrones). In Spanish.
