Biographical Information
Félicité Aurore Barbier Bouny (active 1838-1842) was a propertied slave owner of New Orleans and the widow of Pierre Godefroy Bouny. The couple had four children: Jean Ensebe (born November 12, 1819), Marie Therese Celina (born June 2, 1822), Marie Calipsean (born December 12, 1824), and Pierre Godefoix (born April 20, 1827).</br></br>Coralie (born approximately 1802) was a former enslaved person, freed at the age of 40 by her slaveholder, Félicité Aurore Barbier Bouny. Her son, Charles, (born approximately 1828) described as a mulatto, was freed at the age of ten by Bouny on June 12, 1838.

A petition for the emancipation of Coralie, a slave, aged 40, belonging to Félicité Aurore Barbier Bouny. The document certifies that the widow of Bouny is the owner of Coralie and that the latter was always "respectful, obedient, and loyal to whites." In French.
