Condition
Overall fair condition. Most of glass replaced, perhaps three or four are older. Upper cornice was replaced after a fire. Bottom board of proper right drawer is modern replacement. Replaced molding around meeting point of upper and lower case, although shadow of slightly deeper original is still visible.

Description
Substantial cherry bookcase having a replaced angled cornice above four shelves set on adjustable toothed stiles and enclosed by two four-by-five glazed doors each set within its own track by strips of tulip poplar. Projecting lower case with two long drawers over two storage areas enclosed by pairs of panel doors. Six substantial stiles support paneled sides. Each side of the lower case is separated by a divided board. Proper left side drawer without dust board, which appears to be the original arrangement. Case rises on six turned compressed ball feet with slightly elongated base. Lower drawers and doors with iron locks.

According to current owners, from Greenlawn Plantation near Meridianville, Alabama. Several similar examples with this provenance still exist in the area.
