Description
Marble top dressing table with mirror. Large rectangular framed mirror is supported by two simple turned, mahogany-veneered columns united on top by a mahogany-veneered ogee cornice. The columns are bolted through the white and grey marble top with rounded corners, which sits on top of a case of two thin drawers side-by-side, both with their original brass lock. The drawer fronts are made of chestnut veneered with mahogany, the drawer sides are chestnut and the drawer backs and bottoms are tulip poplar. The drawers run on the bottom of the case, which is mostly open on the bottom, exposing the drawer bottoms. The case rests on two legs with mirrored C-scrolls extending front and back with a central square-shaped column. The scrolls and column terminate in a base with a cornice-like base on top of two square feet shaped with an ovolo and deep cavetto. The feet include brass and iron casters that are likely original. The bases above the feet are united by a square-shaped columnar stretcher. The front and sides of the case and the legs, feet and stretcher are all veneered in mahogany.
