Description
Six branch gasolier chandelier attributed to Cornelius and Baker having a stem with metal sleeve in a rope pattern that splits after joining a circular medallion into three smaller stems. These terminate in the snarling head of a feline creature, possibly a wildcat. Lengths of chains swag between the three terminals, held by the teeth of the animal. In the center void between the three stems rises an armed male figure of man, known as a Green Mountain Boy because of the original commission for this Cornelius and Baker gasolier design for the Vermont state house. The figure stands on a pedestal that narrows as it enters the circular lobated basin. Three branches spring from the basin, each with two branching lights capped by an open etched and cut glass glob with geometric pattern. The branches meet in the center of a cluster of armor, weaponry, and a torch. The turn keys are a modified fleur de lis form.
