Description
Petite rectangular late classical style occasional table with variegated grey-green marble top with rounded corners. The top projects approximately 1" over a supporting case with a conforming rounded rectangular shape. A single drawer spans the width of the case front. Because of its smooth design and lack of hardware, the drawer appears to blend into the side rails of the case. It can be accessed via a small handhold carved out of the front underside of the lower rail. The drawer has chestnut side and front walls. Stained poplar is used for the bottom and back boards. The upper front rail is of chestnut, the lower is of poplar. The back board of the case is also poplar. The side boards are a conifer wood. The inner case may have been restored or reworked, please note in photographs. The case rises on four attenuated S-scroll legs with carved circular medallions on both terminals. They rest on circular terminals of an X-form base, which is supported by four compressed ball feet. Partially concealed under each foot is a small brass caster.
