Description
Pair of low side chairs having a carved floral crest rail over ring turned stiles and supporting rails. The ring turned elements frame an upper section of carving that recalls gothic quatrefoils. The lower back is upholstered. A shallow serpentine curve defines each of the seat rails, a detail accented by a narrow conforming strip of applied molding around the lower edges. The center of the front seat rail has a carved shell with scrolling acanthus leaves that are repeated as the upper terminal of the front legs. The thick cabriole front legs have volute feet, while the back legs continue the ring turning of the seat back. All rise on identical brass casters.
