Marks/Inscription/Labels
On inner side of front seat rail, the following graphite inscription is found: "Upholstered by Jane Kennedy, June 1970, age 31, Century Court Antiques, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Refinished ".
Condition
Overall good condition. Refinished and with modern upholstery. Upholstery on arm pads may not conform to original design as numerous other tack campaigns and shadow lines are present. Alternatively, it may be a correction to earlier upholstery campaigns as the carving seems to conform to the outline of the present textile.

Description
Rococo revival style upholstered mahogany arm chair with shell, acanthus and C-scroll carved crest rail. The upholstered back narrows as it approaches the seat and is fully framed in a curving design of carved mahogany. The arms flare slightly outward with a central upholstered pad, and terminate in scrolled knuckles before sweeping in smooth curves down to the upholstered seat. The seat has an exposed molded bottom hair that appears to flow into the cabriole legs. This is accomplished with a narrow strip of molded mahogany applied to a supporting rail of an unknown wood, possibly elm. Brass casters with a beaded top are attached to the front two legs.
