Description
Six arm gasolier chandelier with elaborate medieval weaponry motifs. Fixture stem has metal sleeve with a spiral pattern in imitation of a twisted rope. The uppermost tier is composed of crossed swords, battle axes, and lion head shields. A cluster of spears, branches and axes surround the stem and seems to spring from the modified ironic capital of the second tier. On the capital are three knights in with eagle topped helmets and tunics ornamented with fleur-de-lis. The knights hold billowing banners. The capital upon which they tapers at its intersection with the six arms. The arms are in the form of C-scrolls and terminate in a dog-like grotesque. The open mouths of the grotesques suspend swags of chains that terminate in spiked weaponry. A cast breastplate forms the front of each light and wraps around a form suggestive of a torch. Six open globes with etched and cut decoration cap each torch. The lowest tier is formed by a group of breastplates, helmets, scepters and a spiked ball. The whole is presently in a matte grey finish.
