Four post bed with full tester, undulating profile of side rails at top and bottom, posts of clustered colonnettes and paneled headboard with high S-scroll pediment ornamented with applied leaves and large central shell. Posts with conforming base and collar (almost like lotus leaves) that does not reach height of tester. Tester has deep cornice made of three sections of molding at sides and front joined to confirming corner blocks, likely all pine veneered with mahogany. Side rails and foot rail of pine (interiors painted brown) faced with mahogany flame veneer and applied scrolls that glue to upper section of rails; central motif of cartouche flanked by leaves. Lower profile of rails accented with undulating molding with leaf terminals. Head board of two pine boards veneered with mahogany, grain stacked lengthwise floating in panel of pine rails and stiles, also veneered. Headboard pediment made up of multiple pieces of pine glued, also veneered. Applied moldings on front to give effect of paneling in pediment. Top and bottom of headboard tenon into sides of head posts. Rails on all sides also tenon into posts, but further secured with walnut glue blocks and large iron rods. Rods slide into glue blocks screwed to corners of side rails and abut post (rails have been excavated in wide, deep channels to accommodate rods). Seven cypress boards span bed opening to support mattress. Boards slide into notches into secondary pine rail screwed into bed rail. Bed set on large casters (possibly brass or iron, but not visible to determine material).
