Mahogany veneer; cherry; pine; iron; brass; jute; complex weave cotton upholstery
Upholstery
Replaced; complex woven cotton is latest in multiple campaigns. Stuffed, but does not have springs. Linen or woven cotton foundation visible under current upholstery. All secured with tacks, then large brass nailheads, and smaller iron nails. Underside with woven jute (or linen) with brown and light-colored webbing.

Condition
Overall good condition. Extensive wear to tops of two of the four feet exposes grain of pine substrate beneath veneer.

Description
Piano stool in pedestal form on four-sided base. Octagonal center column tapers at top with shaped cherry collar visibly joins column to seat. Seat has serpentine pine frame (2 inches wide in section and approximately 2 inches thick), with mortise and tenon joints, upholstered over rail. Notches in frame set seat onto pine plank underneath secured with 4 slotted iron screws. Underside of seat stained red. Base has round plinth above; legs are flat in section, taper then fan at foot. Foot has small ogee shaping. Interior of column has threaded circular steel shaft with square sides inserted into a square cavity, which all inserts into center of base. Steel, threaded rod rests within pine core.
