Description
Large cherry corner cupboard with flush panel doors. Corner cupboard visually divided by walnut and holly band inlay at the waist. Upper section consists of two doors outlined with a string of holly inlay and a diamond shaped escutcheon, also holly. Above the doors are three oval inlays, the largest in the center, connected by a swagged line inlay. Flanking the ovals on either side are ascending vine inlays that disappear into the cornice. Together inlays are reminiscent of a rope and tassel pattern. Above inlay pattern is a cavetto molded cornice, nailed into the top. Below the waist inlay pattern another pair of panel doors and inlay as above. Another band of walnut and holly band inlay runs between the bottom of the doors and the skirt. Skirt is undulating with spurred responds at the ends. Hint of French feet formed from the base. Full length vertical backboards beaded on one edge in the interior. Three shelves on the interior also beaded above and below. Shelves are pegged in from the outside of the case (and presumably through the backboards; back not available for inspection).
