Description
Silk parasol with tan silk taffeta fully lined with ivory silk taffeta and an applied scalloped ruffle with edges on both sides pinked. Constructed with running and over-cast stitches using silk thread. Structure seems to be entirely ivory with a brass ferrule securing end of handle and ribs. Engraved brass ferrule slides down handle to secure it to cover a hinge and secure the handle opening. Handle is carved in pierced link design with alternating links and is carved to resemble rope. Finial is a ball on top of an intricate carved knot. Entire parasol fabric is covered in black silk machine-made lace in a floral and geometric design on a net ground. Two silk tassels hang from finial.
