Dispute between Patrick Maden and ship captain Anthony La Porte over the sum of $200 for 12 iron anvils La Porte received on his ship, Anna, in London, England on Dec. 24, 1805. The anvils were to be delivered to the New Orleans merchant George T. Philips. File contains petition, judgement, copy of the Bill of lading, summons, answer, fieri facias and capias. Petition and copy of Bill of lading written by Lewis Kerr. Answer written by James Cesar Paillette. Summons, fieri facias and capias written by Thomas S. Kennedy. On April 1, 1807, Judge L. Moreau Lislet ruled for the plaintiff for $164 plus suit costs. Capis was served to La Porte on Jan. 18, 1808 and he was committen to prison. Then the order was stopped by the plaintiff.
