Description
Letter to the representatives of the people of West Florida from Charles Dehault Delassus, commandant of the Spanish Fort at Baton Rouge, 1807-1810, in response to a letter he received from the representatives. Delassus expresses his pleasure at their loyalty to the Spanish flag and desire to retain him as their leader. He also reminds them of their duty to provide him with information about those inciting the people and mentions rumors in the district that "the flag of independence" had been raised at musters of the militia.
