Text, May 10, 1899. Devil in Her Throat. Diagnosis of a Fake Italian Doctor. Antonio DiCarlo Then Proceeded to Beat the Devil Out of his Victim, and as a Result the Young Italian Woman is in a Precarious Condition. Jefferson Parish man, "Doctor" Dicarlo, charged with malpractice and assault with intent to kill his "patient", the wife of Frank Nicoloce, in 1899. Dicarlo promised a "faith cure" by beating the woman to rid her of a "devil in her throat." Published in the Times-Democrat.
