Precommencement ceremonies will be held at Louisiana State university medical school at 2 p. m. Friday for the first six students to complete the four-year nursing course leading to degree in nursing.
Commencement,- will be held Saturday at 3: p. m. on the Baton Rouge campus.
The first nursing graduates are Davie Lou Marcantel, Iowa; Ilene Barbara Petrova, Lake Charles;

Mildred Louise Robinson, Alexandria; Carolyn Gay Verret, Lock-port, and Selma Mae Schoenbrodt and Joan Walsh, Baton Rouge.
The four-year nursing course is one of two programs initiated by LSU in 1955 to prepare students for beginning positions in hospitals, public health agencies and other organized nursing services, while also providing general education courses in history, English, science, psychology and sociology.
On completion of the program students are eligible for licensing as professional nurses.
A three-year general nursing curriculum is designed to supplement the training of graduates of hospital schools of nursing.
Both courses provide a foundation for specialization on an advanced level.
