Gov. Long suffers attack from heart

              Gov. Earl K. Long has suffered a slight heart failure, Dr. Victor L. Lief, internist and psychiatrist of the Tu-lane university medical school, announced late Wednesday night.
Dr. Lief said it apparently occurred during the day Wednesday.
When someone remarked that it had not seemed to slow Long's pace, Dr. Lief retorted, "That's the problem."
He said, "We're con-cerned about his condition and intend to issue a statement at 10 a. m. Thursday."
"Dr. Edgar Hull has been   called   in   and   a statement will be issued at that time." Dr.   Hull   is   associate dean    of    the    Louisiana State   university   medical school. He is former head of the department of internal medicine and is con* sidered    an    outstanding |heart specialist RAFFERTY WITH LONG Dr.  Lief said that Dr. Thomas L.  Rafferty,  the psychiatrist who has been appointed clinical director of the southeast Louisiana State hospital, is with the governor.
He said Dr. Rafferty would remain with the governor all night.
The governor's nurse, Mrs. Camille Jett, is also at the Pine Manor motel, where the governor is staying.
The governor, said Dr. Lief, had been put to sleep under sedation.
Dr. Lief reported that Dr. Paul Pratt, the Tulane university psychiatrist, who had been with the governor since last Friday, returned to New Orleans Wednesday.

Doctors Heath, Watkins and Lief are the three doctors who have been caring for the governor since his release from the Southeast Louisiana hospital at Mande-ville last Friday. They had assigned Dr. Pratt to remain with the governor.
PLANS UP IN AIR Doctors refused to answer any Questions, thus leaving up in the air the governor's proposed plans to start stumping the state this week end.
The governor had said that he expected to start stumping the state on July 4 for another term as governor, provided his doctors permit.
He disclosed that he expected to announce his ticket Thursday night.
And in another of his series of announcements, the governor said he plans to leave Louisiana in one week for a three-week vacation trip.
